Eid ul Ghadir celebrated with great Fervour

The celebrations of Eid Ghadir were celebrated across the country in various Ahlul bait Centers with great fervour and excitement last night.

At Ahlul Bait Islamic Centre, Cape Town also followers of Ahlul Bait flocked in numbers to attend the Ceremony remembering the Great Historical event of Ghadir. The followers of Ahlul Bait (AS) in Cape Town were privileged to have 2 learned scholars for this occasion. Hujjatul Islam Sheikh Nuru Muhammed and Hujjatul Islam Maulana Aftab Haider looked at Ghadir from different angles and explained its greatness.

The new website of AFOSA was also launched on this night, with its new features and layout.

The Prophet’s knowledge on the unseen and his strategy by using this knowledge Sheikh Nuru began by expanding on the concept of ‘knowledge of the unseen’, and whether it is possible for anyone besides the Almighty to have such knowledge. He went on to prove from verses of the Quran that certain chosen and blessed ones have had this knowledge, in particular the Holy Prophet (SAWA).

The Prophet did not sit idly with this knowledge and acted on it, his strategy was then mapped out in 3 phases; preparing Imam Ali (AS) for his Imamate, telling the Ummah about the Imamate of Imam Ali (AS) and indicating with physical actions the Imamate of Imam Ali (AS). The Prophet did this because he was aware of what was going to occur in the future due to his knowledge of the unseen.

Ghadir is the pinnacle of the Prophets strategy.

Wilayat is the best of the Divine Favours

Maulana looked at the philosophy behind why we should be celebrating the Eid of Ghadir in the light of Quranic verses. In Quranic terms, an Eid is celebrated when there is a blessing sent down by Allah (e.g. Eid ul Fitr is a celebration of the blessing of Ramadhaan). Blessings in the Quran are addressed in different ways; the majority of them are those which the Qurans reminds us not to forget, these are blessings which are varied and too numerous to count.

There are then 2 particular blessings in the Quran which we are not only told to remember, but they are emphasised as special blessings that are dignified, Prophethood and Imamate. These are blessings which are so special the Quran glorifies them. Then there is one last category of blessing, one which is just not glorified but praised to such an extent that it considered the completion of all the blessings, this blessing is the one given to the Prophet on the Eid of Ghadir, the blessing of Wilayat.

The Eid of Ghadir is therefore the best of Eids as we were given the best of blessings on this day and as such it is a great day which should be celebrated by all Muslims.
